Thermal power plants, boiler houses and thermal networks make generation and further transfer of large amounts of thermal energy. In this case accounting methods require high measuring accuracy instead of quality and reliability. In addition, it requires stable storage of high metrological characteristics during the meter verification interval. Because every additional percent of heat measuring error can make multi-million losses in case the pipelines are large. It is about heat generating companies and heating systems.

SEMPAL ultrasonic water and heat meters with DN from 100 mm to 1000 mm are perfect solution for modern organization of heat and water high-precision accounting in big sites.      

One more warranty proof of high accuracy is usage of flow meter sections which made carefully and metrologically verified. Inner surface of flow meter section is processed carefully. So, it has perfectly round cross-section. After it SEMPAL flow meter sections are installed to large diameter pipeline and ensures modern, high-precision heat accounting. This is what sets our equipment apart from many other cheaper devices. Because in case cheap device installation ultrasonic sensors are directly installed in usual pipeline by simple way. It is not good cause such pipeline will be covered by thick layer of rust and precipitation. In result, cross-section will be oval a little, not round. That is why such type of installation doesn't ensure high measuring accuracy.   

In turn reduced accuracy of devices with ultrasonic mortise sensors can lead to big negative results for TPP, boiler rooms and heating systems. It's about uncontrol errors during heat measuring, or malformed data about leakages, or inability to balance, or unreasonable increasing of tariffs for heat, etc.

Such negative consequences lead to significant financial losses. And these losses are not comparable with price of SEMPAL heat meter with big diameter. The price of device is much chipper. So, during your device choosing, look not the price only but it's accuracy and efficiency.

Need to be noted that SEMPAL also produces heat meters with mortise sensors. But we recommend to install devices with flow meter sections that had been metrologically verified.

Specially for large pipelines we also produce devices with sluice section to provide hermetic performance for flow and temperature sections.

Sluice section used to put off flow sensors (if necessary) without flow stop before repairing, cleaning or replacement. Hermetic performance of flow and temperature sensors with protection sleeves used to ensure full sealing of connectors and to ensure protection against mechanical damages.

As an example of successful usage of SEMPAL heat meters is Thermal Power Plant in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The devices gave significant economy effect quickly. It happened because of reduce of gas consumption in boiler rooms.

SEMPAL heat meters are used on some sites of Chornobyl Nuclear Power Station to.

As one more example, we have one of the biggest gas boiler houses in Kyiv region. It is in Slavutych (the flow meter diameter is 600 mm). The town located near Chornobyl NPS and most of citizens are CPSP workers.

High-precision heat energy accounting and quick necessary data transfer allow to increase boiler room efficiency. Based on heat produced information and other readings we optimized and reduced quantity of consumed gas. By the way SEMPAL also designed, installed and commissioned that equipment by itself.    

Water is expensive resource. That's why flow measurement is very important for water utilities and supply stations. However, water utilities often use old and cheap equipment that can't ensure qualified water accounting. Some sites use flow meters with changeable differential pressure and diaphragm. But such devices have low accuracy and small dynamic range, low sensitivity and large pressure losses.  

Another alternative option of water accounting is water meters usage based on mortise ultrasonic sensors. But such option has disadvantages. One of them is that nobody can ensure high accuracy of measuring because of pipe rust coating, or pipe imperfect form.

SEMPAL uses devices with flow meters (DN-100-1000 mm) which made in factory conditions. Flow meters have installed flow sensors as usual. All flow meters metrological specifications and geometric sizes are controlled carefully. Such way allows provide reliable and high-precision water accounting. 

Especially for large scale diameters we produce equipment with sluice section for ultrasonic flow sensors. Sluice section is used to put flow sensors off without flow stop while repairing, replacement or cleaning.
