RESSURE DROP CONTROLLER IS AN IMPORTANT COMPONENT OF INDIVIDUAL HEAT POINT

Pressure drop controller is a type of pipeline accessories regulation. The type is designed for automatic support of set difference of water pressure in pipelines. It uses consumption change type. The regulation is carried out by change of cross section of controller valve. The working principle of direct action controller is based on usage of working environment energy (water) for valve control without energy input from external source. The valve opening degree is proportional to degree of deviation of the drop from the set value.   

Methodology for selecting a pressure drop regulator determines the bandwidth, required adjustment range and testing of noise and cavitation. 

The drop pressure controller is being adjusted after filling the pipeline with water during the node commissioning. The bandwidth should be from 30 to 80% of stroke. We recommend to choose the pressure drop controllers that way. These settings allow you to reduce consumption and increase it. The controller settings range depends on power of spring compression.  

The controller pressures drop should be from 20 to 80% from other pressure drops. The controller installation needs to be adhering to the next recommendations:

  • It needs to install manometers in front and behind of the controller;
  • It needs to install the mesh filter in front of the controller; 
  • Different manufacturers give different data, but during the drop pressure controller installation, in average, it is recommended to keep straight sections 5DN in front and 10DN behind (if conditions allow).

The majority of pressure drop controllers has the horizontal installation position in case the temperature`s more than 80°С. In case the temperature`s less than 80°С the installation position is free. All the pressure drop controllers which are installed in front of control valve allow to turn off the noise which arises through the high pressure in the heat supply system.
